Gail van Diepen, D.O.

Primary Care Internal Medicine located in Volusia County, Ormond Beach, FL

About Dr. van Diepen

There isn’t a finer provider of primary health care in Volusia County than Dr. Gail van Diepen.  A physician of over 30 years standing, Gail has owned her medical practice here in Ormond Beach since 1999.  She has provided thousands with loving and intelligent care, saving and extending and making comfortable the lives of countless patients.

Historically she has a reputation of truly listening to her patients, going deeper into their complaints AND the context in which their health issues arise, so that she is perhaps the best diagnostician in the area.  She is not on anyone else’s clock – it is HER practice and so her patients get her total attention and the benefit of her extensive experience.

The other significant advantage for Gail’s patients arising out of her continued sole ownership of her practice (increasingly rare in today’s era of practice acquisitions by hospitals and insurers) is that she can be and is FIERCELY INDEPENDENT in her selection of specialists, imaging centers, laboratories etc.  to which to refer her dear patients. Unlike most of the primary care physicians in Volusia County, who work within corporate-owned clinics, she is not beholden to anyone’s direction as to which cardiologist…orthopod…oncologist…radiologist to whom to refer her patients. “Her” specialist list is special: to be on it the doctor must be technically proficient and patient sensitive – and so HER patients get The Best in town.

Dr. van Diepen was born in Central America, moved to the United States in her teens, got her undergraduate degree at Tulane and her medical degree at Oklahoma State.  She did her residencies in Internal Medicine at Long Beach Hospital in New Jersey, Washington Hospital in Washington, DC and Pennsylvania Women’s College-Hahnemann in Philadelphia.

She is the mother of three boys (a well-known Hollywood tv/film writer-producer, a surgeon and a tv production staffer) and grandmother of three.
